Spring 2006

Some of you may have noticed some improvements to the airport over the last several months. The airport has installed a new AVGAS fuel pump, grounding reel, hose and hose reel. The old pump was failing and the meter was worn. A concrete pad has been poured on the east ramp. The Airport Authority hopes to continue making improvements to the airport facilitates when needed. No major airport construction is set for this year. We hope to get a grant sometime in the future to prep the area around the new ramp but we will have to see if the funds become available. Those funds would be used to build an access road, parking and complete the ramp. Later the airport would build a new terminal building and t-hangars at the new location.

The Prattville Airport is in the process of installing a new fuel farm on the east ramp. The fuel farm will consist of one 12,000 gallon AVGAS tank and one 12,000 gallon JET A tank. The AVGAS tank will have an automated credit card reader that will be available 24 hours a day. The tanks are expected to be installed in the second week of June. The larger AVGAS tank should give us a better ability to control our purchases of fuel during these times of fluctuating fuel prices. The card reader will be able to accept most major credit cards.

Please help in keeping the airport looking neat and clean by disposing all your trash in the dumpster at the east ramp. The airport does not pickup trash laid outside on the ground around the hangars. Thanks for your help in keeping the airport looking nice.
